UK Introduces Tougher Conditions for 5 Immigration V The UK government under Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, has unveiled a comprehensive five-point plan in order to curb immigration.  Reports monitored on The Punch, says there is increasing consternation among Conservatives over the recent stoppage in the Supreme Court concerning a proposal termed the "Rwanda deportation scheme". The Court ruled the British government’s proposal to offload asylum seekers to Rwanda as illegal. If it had scaled through, the UK would have been able to send anyone who entered the country without proper documentation o Rwanda. The five main visa categories that will be affected by impending changes are: Health and care visas. 4th December 2023 US visa Agency Report Kindly share this story: The Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria, Mr David Greene, disclosed on Sunday that the embassy has interviewed over 150,000 Nigerians for US visas, in addition to 30,000 student visa applicants. Greene, who stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja, said the mission remained committed to tackling all visa-related bottlenecks. He said, “When it comes to visas specifically, well of course it is a simple fact, the demand for visa appointments outnumbers the supply. “So, those appointments are available and we are doing everything we can to address that gap. What folks do not know is that this year we have interviewed more than 150,000 Nigerians.

  Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Tuesday said  the automation of Nigeria’s passport application is 99 per cent completed. Ojo, speaking in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today said the automated application will become operational in a week’s time noting that after completion,  Nigerians will only go to immigration centres to do fingerprint biometrics for their passports. He further revealed that with the new system, Nigerians can upload their passport photographs and other supporting documents from the comfort of their homes.
