The Principal of Government College, Katsina, Isyaku Bello Kofarsoro, was only invited to the state ministry of education to verify the result he released, Commissioner of Education Professor Kado Kurfi said at the weekend. Speaking with our correspondent, Kurfi dispelled rumour that the principal was queried over release of the result. “No query was issued; why do I have to do that?  We invited him to verify if indeed he was the one that released it and to ensure that it is genuine”, he said. The European Union has declared that it will not deploy election observers in the North-East because of the security challenges in the zone. The Chief Observer of the European Union Election Observer Mission in Nigeria, Ambassador Santiago Fisas, made this known when members of the mission visited the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, on Monday. Fisas said that the EU Election Observer Mission had been in the country since November 2014, and its members had commenced their assignment by monitoring the primaries of the political parties. He added that more than 90 observers had been in the country to monitor the forthcoming election in all the states but they would not cover the North-East because of the activities of insurgents in the zone. The billboards of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party featuring President Goodluck Jonathan, as well as those of the main opposition All Progressives Congress of Muhammadu Buhari, located on Accra roads, were pulled down over the weekend by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly. President Goodluck Jonathan President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday disclosed that the Nigerian military would take delivery of some additional platforms between this week and next week, in his administration’s quest to end insurgency in parts of the country.
