 The House of Representatives just ended s rowdy session following a plenary session to discuss an Act to the Supplementary Budget Act this afternoon. Cynthia Wunmi Adebanjo, also called CY, got more than what she bargained for at the Ikorodu-based Coroner Inquest yesterday. She asked the judge for permission for Mohbad's corpse ti be handed over to her for burial.  Wunmi claimed she's concerned over giving her husband's body proper burial because it's nearly one year after his death yet, his body has not been re-buried.  Reacting, the judge told Wunmi it's not within het rights to demand for the body of Mohbad for burial under any circumstances.  She was told that she got joined to Mohbad in marriage according to Yoruba traditional rites and custom and so, is subject to the authority of Mohbad's father, Joseph Aloba, who is the head of the Aloba family she married into.   The judge told her she could only collaborate with Mohbad's father to get such consent.  That's likely to be a futile effort because Mohbad's dad has staunchly refused to bury Mohbad until justice is got for his death, largely to...

 There was a fire incident today at #Dangote Refinery, Lagos. The cause of the fire has not been determined but according to a press release by the Refinery, it had been put out. No casualty was mentioned. 

       Kenya's federal parliament building   The turmoil in Kenya has reached alarming proportions!  Demonstrators in the West African nation who have been protesting the passage of a contentious IMF-US Finance Bill for several days, have gone violent. Hours earlier, irate mobs broke into the Parliament building and set many sections of it on fire. It is currently being engulfed in flames. The Ugandan High Commission to Kenya, has also been torched. The aggrieved demonstrators set the building on for for they believe Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni is the person giving bad advice on the issue to Kenya's President Ruto.     There is still brimming anxiety between the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Presidency over ongoing consultations and dialogue over a new minimum wage for Nigerians.  At yesterday's Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting Labour is deeply displeased over FEC's decision to step down the memorandum on the report of the Tripartite Committee on Newborn National Minimum Wage.. The Head of Public Relations of the NLC Benson Upah, criticised the failure of FEC to consider the memo during Tuesday’s FEC meeting, said stepping down the tripartite committee report “creates room for injurious speculations.” Reonding, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, informed journalists after the meeting that the FEC stepped down the memorandum on the new minimum wage to allow for more consultations between President Bola Tinubu, state governors, local government authorities and the private sector.  The minister said the council suspended acting on ...

  President Bola Tinubu has nominated Olatunji Bello as the new Chief Executive Officer/Executive Vice-Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), pending confirmation by the Senate.  Bello is a lawyer, administrator, and renowned journalist, who was the former secretary to the Lagos State Government and also served as Commissioner for Environment under two administrations in Lagos State. Femi Gbajabiamila, immediate past speaker, Federal House of Representatives and the irrepressible Chief of Staff to Ptesident Bola Tinubu, as he clocks a year older today, June 25.  One very remarkable projects that is a testament of his quality service delivery to the people was his total overhaul of roads in Suruke local government, Lagos. The top official of Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, who slumped and passed on today while appearing before the Public Account Committee of the House of Representatives, has been identified as Deputy Comptroller, Finance Administration and Technical Service of the Nigerian Customs Service, Essien Etop Andrew. Andrew was pronounced dead at the National Assembly Clinic in Abuja on Tuesday. The deceased appeared for questioning on Tuesday in continuation of the ongoing probe of revenue-generating agencies and parastatals of government. In this role, he was addressing the committee on remittance of levies into designated government accounts, when Andrew suddenly paused and said “Sir, I need to take water.” The Chairman of the Committee, Bamidele Salam, responded, “You need to take water, sir? Yes, go ahead! Or if you need tea… Do you need tea?” The customs boss reportedly said again, “I may need to take water,” and then collapsed.
