Atiku, Isn't Your Finger Tired Of Perennial Finger-Pointing? (Sunday Brunch)
He was on his way towards becoming Adamawa's governor, when OBJ picked him above all else as his VP running mate.
According to Atiku's on again, off again perennial freneneny, Rufai, this was the lynchpin of why he acceded to OBJ the night the wily old fox prostrated, wrote and begged him to sign off on his second term in office.
Rufai said Atiku told him that his marabout who told him he would win Adamawa's guber but won't sit on that seat but a higher one recently told him OBJ would not finish a second term in office but die shortly after, paving way for him to be President without sweat. And of course, that one neatly relayed the conversation to Baba.
As ebora owu plenipotentiary, the baba wasted no time in unequivocally telling him Atiku would "never" become Nigeria's president which he is so gung-ho about as long as he is alive. His team said Obj is not God. Maybe it was that marabout that dictated that oree release.
Because so far, God has agreed with Baba, not Atiku.
And, the old soldier foxy baba still dey kampe in out-dancing his younger ones at social parties in body. His resolve on his vow to Adamawa lord remains unbreakable too.
But, truly, his grandkids should be asking him, "papa, aren't you tired? We grew up watching you campaign for presidency and... we're adults, you're still there, casting aspersions. Papa!'
Fresh off his failed US gambit of wild-goose-chasing in trying to bring his Nigerian mien to America to force Washington to bend its laws for him so he can remove "Bola" from the ballot, here we go again, misfiring about subsidy and its impact on Nigerians in an infantile attempt to gain popular support in the forthcoming polls.
The economy is yet harsh. But tell Atiku that he should read the latest 2026 World Bank's report on Nigeria and its own unbiased checks which reveals Nigeria's economy "is" stabilizing according to so many metrics. But, as realistic economic experts would inform you, it will still take a little elasticity for that to translate to lower costs of beef and garri in the market.
Atiku should know better.
What I find forever amusing is his forever finger pointing at others as less better or no good in office but neglecting to mention what he successfully did in his own tenure as the most powerful vice president Nigeria ever had between 1999 and 2003.
Instead, like a toddler in the throes of "terrible-twos" temper tantrums, he stamps his feet, pulls his hair, loudly shrieks and slams the door on his many ways out in episodic fits of jealousy-fuelled tirades.
He blames OBJ for his electoral woes since 2003.
Till 2026, he still recounts revisionist history in his bitterness. His boss famously accused him of "disloyalty."
2) President Jonathan - April 2016, apparently inferring how malleable it might have been for him to stumble into Aso Rock as president if Jonathan had not conceded defeat to Buhari, and by implication , edge PDP out of reckoning since, ATIKU pointed another crooked finger at Jonathan, describing him as unprepared and incompetent.
Yes. Same Atiku described former President Goodluck Jonathan as a "decent" man but, who was ultimately "inexperienced" and ill-prepared to handle the nation's major challenges while in office.
Atiku’s remarks in an interview on ARISE News Channel (as reported in April 2026), stated that while President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua started his tenure well, the transition to Jonathan brought struggles due to a lack of deep governance preparation. He noted that Jonathan’s lack of sufficient governance exposure contributed to his difficulties in managing national issues, comparing it to young state governors who also struggle without prior experience.Jonathan's
Responding, President Jonathan indirectly said during an awards ceremony in Abuja, that "no president will say he did not make mistakes" in his characteristic dismissal and non-cognizance of such immaturity.
Whatever. Jonathan has the prefix "President" affixed before his name that Atiku still do not have till today.
His angst actually is having no platform to vie running as usual for the presidency following the 2014 political coalition that removed Jonathan from power through the APC, which became the new sheriff in town.
But, political groups and critics slammed Atiku's "inexperienced" label, pointing out that Jonathan rose through every constitutional rung—from Deputy Governor and Governor to Vice President and Acting President—before becoming president.
3) President Buhari was not spated from Atiku's hypocritical pontifications.
He started whining because the feeding bottle government has been feeding a company he cofounded was removed from its lusty lips. He sold off his shares in Integrated Logistics Services Limited (Intels), accusing then President Muhammadu Buhari’s government of destroying his “legitimate business that employed thousands of Nigerians.”
But top government sources told Daily Trust in 2021 that the claim by Atiku was a tissue of lies because Buhari had nothing to do with his travails.
Founded in 1982 as Nicotes Services Ltd, Intels is regarded as Nigeria’s largest logistics company. It provides comprehensive integrated logistics services for the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry.
Atiku was said to have sold his shares to Orleal Investment Group, the parent company of Intels, for various amounts totalling over $100 million in a deal that spanned two years.
A statement by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, confirmed the sale of the shares, saying the former vice president has redirected his investment to other sectors of the economy.
“Co-founder of Integrated Logistics Services Nigeria Limited (Intels), Atiku, has been selling his shares in Intels over the years. It assumed greater urgency in the last five years because this (Buhari) government has been preoccupied with destroying a legitimate business that was employing thousands of Nigerians because of politics.
"... Yes, he has sold his shares in Intels and redirected his investment to other sectors of the economy for returns and creation of jobs,” the statement read.
Since the whole business transaction of Intels revolves around a contract between some individuals or body corporate on one side and the government on the other, any of them can call it off if that party feels uncomfortable with the arrangement. The monopolistic control INTELS had for 17byears, to Atiku, must forever abide though." 27 years or not, how dare Buhari stop that contract?" is the mien.
But, typically, as is now, that is classic Atiku trying to apply emotional blackmail to exploit the masses' sentiment to forever allege victimization and gain sympathy. Daily Trust reports that "the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) had in September 2020 terminated a boats pilotage monitoring and supervision agreement that the agency had with Intels, saying that the contract was illegal.
The federal government earlier in April 2020 approved the recommendations of the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, breaking the near monopoly of Mr Atiku’s Intels in the handling of oil and gas cargoes in the country.
Malami had in a letter addressed to the NPA argued that the agreement, which had allowed Intels to receive revenue on behalf of NPA for 17 years was in contravention of the Nigerian Constitution, especially because of the implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) policy of the government."
The newspaper said that Intels, however, kicked against the termination of the agreement, describing the action as “preposterous” and highly injurious to Nigeria.
The assets sold off by Atiku is said to be worth $100 million or about N38.1 billion spanning a tranche transaction of two years.
Officials at Intels, which has its operational base at Onne Port in Rivers and in Lagos, said the deal was completed in December 2020, with Atiku exiting the company after he sold off his stake.
4) Now, it's President Tinubu's turn. To face the slimy finger-pointing of a man who sulks each time he is sorely beaten to the presidency since 2003 for his intractable failure to become Nigeria's president by perennially whining about the victorious President who just vanquished him.
What's his record as vice president whilst charged with privatisation?
Did he not whine when he sold INTELS and blame Buhari? Is he part of the "vested interests" holding Nigeria by the throat over subsidy removal but feigning a messianic posturing now?
Did he not just whine about Jonathan in April? Instructively, that was a moment when a firm push by some political figures to put President Jonathan in the race for the 2027 presidential polls were gaining increased traction.
Atiku that is so experienced, where has that experience taken him in nearing the presidential seat he covets so much?
Yet Jonathan that he derisively called inexperienced trumped his so-called experience to sit on that ornately crested seat as Nigeria's VP and, president.
What happened with his widely reported involvement in the Siemens scandal? Should we open book for Waziri? Congressman Jefferson who took the fall and was jailed is to be blamed. If he had not chosen to conduct his shady conversation in writing during that infamous dinner, he might have got him to cool off alongside him behind bars. Jefferson thought he was evading a possible wiretap, not knowing they were under physical surveillance as well.
Several US's Maryland residents can fill many Nigerians in on how his ex wife Jennifer had to hurriedly leave America as a consequence of Mr. Finger Pointer Atiku's involvement in that saga.
Given his interest in oil and gas and fallout with INTELS, is he still, typical of him, still sulking?
Probably, he is nursing a return to the oil business and subsidy is what he craves as a buy-in? But, alas, it is no more!
Anyone who knows him should tell him that as Tinubu presidentially declared: "subsidy is gone"!
It is another election cycle though. As it is his forte during the long, winding, tiresome, narratives since 2003, Atiku Abubakar will say anything, do anything, join any alliance, blow millions in dollars on flimsy US gambits, just to try sit on "Bola's" seat.
But, Nigerians are not fooled by his world press conferences, staged interviews and knee-jerk outbursts belie his deep, butter political frustration escalating unendingly since huge political toil and financial losses since 2003.
But, didn't anyone expose him to Kenny Rogers' The Gambler?

Know when to run..."?
