Awujale: Tinubu's Connection to Fuji King K1's Claim to Awujale's Throne
News has been rude that Wasiu Omogbolahan Anifowose or Wasiu Ayinde Marshal as his lovers know him or most popularly as K1 De Ultimate, has be embroiled in controversy following his formal declaration for the Awujale of Ijebunlsnd vacant kingship stool.
However, as we all know, the royal house from Fusegbunwa royal home which is set to produce the next Awujale based on the traditional rotational system, swiftly denounced his claim of being a member of the royal house.
Though this was made to effectively stop K1's bud, there are factors the king makers are not considering it are unaware of that strengthen K1's case.

Can a person ordained formally via an elaborate Chietaincy ceremony making him the official first in rank among all Ijebu princes not be from a royal lineage? It is yet unclear if the title is culturally symbolic or it is just ceremonial.. But, traditionally, it is expected that the headship of princes in a deeply traditional kingdom like Ijebu land, would be to a very accomplished prince from one of the royal families.
Another factor which is backing K1's claim to the exalted throne of Awujale of Ijebunlsnd, is deeply secret. It is the ace in K1's corner-President I Bola and Remi Tinubu's factor. First Lady Remi Tinubu has ties to Ijebuland so, is very interested in who occupies the throne after the long and legendary rule of the highly respected Dr. Sikiru Kayode Adetona.
President Tinubu is surreptitiously backing Wasiu's claim to the throne. The president has long made it a guiding principle to facilitate emergence of kings in crucial kingdoms to consolidate his influence and power. Notably, he helped Elegusgi of Egushiland, Saheed Elegushi, Gbolahan Lawal to become Oniru of Iru kingdom, Oba Rilwan Akiolu to become the Oba of Lagos and Oba Babatunde Enitan Ogunwusi to emerge as the Oonirisa of Ife, as kings. Lagos is very key to Tinubu s hold on power hence the installation of several kings to help further spread his influence. Ife is the birthplace of the Yoruba people. These are ancients stools that carry immense value.
K1 has been the official singer to both Tinubu and his political platforms for over 25 years and they share a very robust relationship. Ensuring the emergence of someone close to him on the revered Awujale throne is well within the standard operating procedure of President Tinubu.
