Davido Lawsuit: Why Did First Baby mama Sophia Momodu Reject His House Offer? (Entertainment)
It is no longer news that David Adeleke, Davido, has dragged his first baby mama, Sophia Momodu, to court for joint custody of Imade, their 10-year-old daughter.
What's surprising is that in the suit, Davido said he had purchased a house in Oniru for Sophia. Oniru in Lagos island is adjacent to Victoria Island in Lagos, and is famed for being one of the affluent neighbourhoods in the state.
But, he said Sophie turned it down. Why? Information reaching us reveals that Sophie declined because she suspected the house will be sn entrapment. In a house which belongs to Davido in deed documents, she would be caged and her life would be totally st the mercy of Davido.
For instance, house maintenance costs there is huge and beyond her means unless Davido pays which she fears night become a blackmail avenue in the future. Besides, since he owns the house, it's automatically a given that she must not entertain any suitor at the property. Also, her control over the situation will be zero as Davido will be enabled to come and go as he pleases.
This second reason is the main reason why Sophie turned the house offer down. Davido reportedly returned to Sophia after his 2020 split with Chioma, declared his undying love for her and pledged to marry her. Sophia took him back and they were a low key exclusive couple in the intervening years.
Suddenly, she woke up one morning to read reports of his return to Chioma in 2022. They had a hot confrontation and he told her it's over. Sophie was shattered. This was not helped by Dsvido's subsequent daily public displays of affection to Chioma in the news.
But, she feels Davido wants to play mind games, letting her go but still keeping her shackled by putting the deeds to the Oniru house in his name and notbhets or even Imade's name, at the least. She feels she could be turned out after Imade clocks 18 and for all the deep hurt, pain and her time she said Davido has wasted, she feels she deserves restitution from Davido.
Though Davido replaced her Range Rover SUV he bought her with a Highlander SUV after Inside skipped school for two weeks because Sophie said her car is faulty, Sophianis unimpressed. She feels this is a disposable asset; she needs a solid restitution.
It could explain Sophie's seeming intransigence over, as Davido said in the court papers, over demands for N800k for a nanny with annual payments paid upfront plus dispute over visitation and custody rights.
With total breakdown of dialogue, it's now over to the courts to decide.
