Eagle square is an official significant venue often used for state events. It hosted inauguration events, independence day anniversaries, armed forces remembrance days, party primaries, etc. Besides, it is very close to Three Arms Zone comprising Aso Rock and Aso Villa, presidential office and residences and the National Assembly Complex.
Though the official authorities refuse to give permission, that is where the protesters insist they will use. They are aggrieved because pro government protests were reportedly held there days ago. It's not helped by the news that some protesters were tear gassed by the police at Eagle Square.
However, (above) Adamawa, home state of opposition presidential candidate and former VP Atiku Abubakar, held a peaceful protests supporting the Tinubu administration and his policies. Earlier, Atiku had voiced support for the protests, even urged the president to dialogue with the organisers.
