BREAKING: Iran and world powers reach nuclear deal
Negotiators from the six world powers and Iran reached a historic deal Tuesday, curbing Tehran’s nuclear program for more than a decade in exchange for lifting international sanctions on the country, an Iranian diplomat told Reuters. “All the hard work has paid off and we sealed a deal. God bless our people,” the diplomat said. The accord is said to include a compromise between the U.S. and Iran to allow UN inspectors to push for access to Iranian military sites as part of their monitoring role. A final plenary meeting between foreign ministers from Iran and the U.S., Britain, France, China, Germany, and Russia is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. local time in Vienna, followed by a news conference, according to EU spokeswoman Catherine Ray. The deal will then go to the UN Security Council, which is expected to support it by the end of the month. President Obama must also submit the deal to the U.S. Congress, which now has 60 days to approve or reject it.
The UN International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief Yukiya Amano said the group is aiming to resolve all outstanding questions about Iran’s nuclear program by the end of 2015
