US actresses Katie Holmes and Leah Remini settle feud
Enemies no more! Leah Remini and Katie Holmes have seemingly ended their feud after both actresses publicly left the Church of Scientology. During Remini’s shocking 20/20 interview on Friday, Oct. 30, she claimed that Holmes, 36, and her then-husband Tom Cruise would file reports about her to the church, essentially tattling on her bad behavior.
For the segment, Holmes released the statement: “I regret having upset Leah in the past and wish her only the best in the future.”
Reflecting on the Dawson’s Creek star’s words on Monday, Nov. 2, during a follow-up interview on Good Morning America, Remini, 45, smiled as the statement was read.
“I’m smiling because it almost makes me want to cry,’ she said. “It makes me emotional because at the time that Katie and this particular crew were writing reports, it caused me a lot of time and pain in my family, being reprogrammed. So at the time I was fighting with her — I guess for the lack of the better word — within the church, and now I know really what she was going through.”
Holmes and Cruise, 53, divorced in 2012, and the New York-based actress reportedly took their daughter Suri, 9, away from the Church of Scientology.

“At the time I was thinking of myself and my family and what we were going through, I had no idea that she was going through probably a lot more,” Remini admitted. “Looking back now and seeing her and Suri out there in the world and her being able to be with her daughter and live her life, I’m touched by it, because I know now she did what she did, leaving in the way that she did, because she had to protect her daughter, which in a way connects us now.”
As for Cruise’s official role in the church, Remini claimed she didn’t know of his exact position, saying, “That’s unclear. But in my experience, there seems to be a lot of power there. The power seemed to be enormous.”
Remini also noted that because of her exit from the church after three decades in 2013, she and Holmes are able to connect on a new level.
“It’s really because we both left that we’re able to have this kind of grace towards each other because we’re back to being human,” she said.
The church, for its part, has repeatedly dismissed Remini's claims.
