US Makes Ambode, Agbaje Sign Peace Pact

The candidates of the two top parties signed a Peace Pledge attested to by the leading Lagos Gubernatorial Candidates, All Progressives' Congress' Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, and Mr. Jimi Agbaje, of Peoples'Democratic Party during an Electoral Security Roundtable, convened by the US Embassy to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Pledge urges the contestants to guarantee a fair and peaceful gubernatorial poll In the state.

Apparently, the US government interceded due to the restiveness observed among loyalists of the two main parties who have been defacing and tearing down the posters of each opposing side. In the early hours of Saturday, 7 February, fishy elements tore Ambode's gigantic poster by Ogudu, near the third mainland bridge in the city.

The Peace Pledge was signed by: US Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. James Entwistle; Ambode; Agbaje; Catholic Arch-Bishop of Lagos, Arch-Bishop Adewale Martins; National Missioner of Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Imam Abdulrahman Ahmad; Senior Pastor and Prelate, House on the Rock, Pastor Paul Adefarasin and National Missioner of Faith-ul-Qareeb Islamic Society, Sheikh Abdurrahman Adangba.
