Former Speaker defects to APC
Former Speaker, House of Representatives, Honourable Olubunmi Etteh, on Monday, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) with thousands of her supporters in Irewole, Ayedaade and Isokan Federal constituency of Osun State.
Etteh was received into the fold of the APC by Governor Rauf Aregbesola at a rally held at the federal constituency to drum up the support for the candidates of the APC in this month’s elections at Ikoyi, in Irewole Local Government.
The former speaker said she decided to join the APC because of the party’s progressive policies and the love for the masses, saying that her decision was to join the progressives so that she would be able to contribute her quota to the development of the people.
Etteh, who lauded Aregbesola for the positive changes in the state in the past four and a half years, observed that the transformation of the state under APC was glaring for all to see.
While welcoming the former Speaker and her supporters in Ikoyi, Apomu, Ikire, Araromi Owu, Orile Owu and Gbongan, the governor charged all eligible voters in the local government areas and the whole state to vote for all the candidates of APC across board.
He emphasised that the victory of August 9 governorship election in the state would be boosted with the party securing all the seats available both in upper, lower and the legislative chambers, pointing out that change could only come when the APC presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari comes to power by May 29 this year.
Aregbesola stated, “February 14 and 28 elections are significant for the change that Nigerians have been clamouring for, we need not say much. Our good work has been speaking for us, we plan to do more than what we have done in the last four years.”
“We can only do more with your support by voting all our party candidates in the forthcoming elections. I also want to use this opportunity to thank you for standing behind us during the last August 9 governorship election. We are here again to ask for your votes for our presidential candidate and every other candidate in your federal constituency. We must show to the world that Osun is completely APC,” he remarked.
