Wizkid s Essence Shatters Music Records (Entertainment)

We did it!:  Wizkid and Tems, with their initial certification plaques with Essence

Exceptional cheering news are here for Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, professional known to the world as Wizkid.

Made in Lagos, his star album released four years ago, is still breaking records and raking in impressive profits despite the passage of time. Infact, with the current trend, the track is in its way to be ranked among the greatest songs in the world.

The statistics speaks for itself. In US, the album sold nearly a million album sale with over 870,000 sold till date. This is quite impressive for an Afribeats star in the highly competitive and territorial American music scene..

But, it's the breakout track from the album dubbed Essence, that still remains an evergreen favourite among music lovers worldwide.

Essence, in which Wizkid featured fellow Nigerian female music star Tems, got Gold certifications in Belgium and France. This is no mean feat as these are two countries where English, used to write lyrics of the track, is hardly spoken.

The track has also got Platinum certification in UK and Switzerland and multiple Platinum in New Zealand, Canada and South Africa.

Now, Essence, is gearing up for another milestone. Its  certification, this time is coming again from the US. For selling five million units of the track in US, Essence is now eligible for 5x platinum status in the capital of entertainment worldwide, the United States of America!

This is a rare feat even for established artiste from that country.

Any minute from now, the RIAA, the US entity which issues such certifications, would make this official by an announcement and plaque issuance ceremony.

Congratulations, Wizkid and Tems!
