BREAKING: June 12: President Tinubu Honours Slain Bola Ige, Alfred Rewane, Saro Wiwa, Kudirat Abiola, Others (Politics))

 

   President Tinubu

President Tinubu, in an address to the joint session to the national assembly, conferred posthumous national awards to Kudirat Abiola, Chief MKO Abiola 's spouse and heroine if the June 12 struggle assassinated, June 4, 1996. She was conferred with Commander of the Order of the Order of Nigeria, CON. 

Similarly, Bola Ige, a former attorney general and minister of justice, also assassinated; Humphrey Nwosu, electoral umpire of June 12 1993 elections; Prof. Wole Soyinka, Nobel Laureate; Rear Admiral Kanu; Ken Saro Wiwa and similarly executed other members of the Ogoni Nine summarily executed by the Abacha regime to widespread and global condemnation; Nurudeen Olowopopo; Owei Lakemfa; Seye Kehinde. 

Others are Bamideke Aturu, Bayo Onanuga, Dapo Olorunyomi, Labaran Maku, Tokunbo Afikuyoki, Alao Aka-Bashorun, Frank Kokori, Kayode Komolafe, Ledum Mitee amongst several heroes if the June 12 struggle git national honours in various categories.

Senate President Godswill Akoabio, Speaker of the federal house of representatives, Tajudeen Abbas. Oh d, and their deputies got national awards too. Akoabio and Abbas got GCON, the second highest national award and their deputies got CON awards. They took pictures with the president before he departed the session.

Since he left office as governor of Lagos 18 years ago, Bourdillon has nearly become a reference for him and his immense political influence.
