 There are some items called 'antique", because they are limited edition, rare things manufactured in the past but very scarce today. Yet, highly desirable and keenly sought after. Like antique furniture, bicycle, coins, artworks, etc.

There are some clothing dubbed "haute couture" for being extremely expensive, unusually tailored with costly, rare fabrics and its manufacture is limited to a very few. It's date of manufacture is always many, many years oast. So, wearing a garment that has virtually no replica and made decades earlier add to the allure, grandeur and high class of the wearer. 

Now, in what humans ingest, there are rare wines and spirits that are called "vintage." These are few, carefully fermented wines and other liqueur that are kept for decades before sale. Their sales years and years after manufacture adds to its price and value.

There are also "colector's items." This refers to rare, old but in good condition items like books, stamps, houses, music albums, musical instruments, etc.

All these rarities are often sold in select auditions at top auction houses or from the owners themselves at steep prices
