Whitney Houston 's biopic debuts amid Bobby Btown drama
The long-anticipated Whitney Houston's biopic made its release yesterday to mixed reviews. The Canadian singer, Deborah Cox, delivered a sterling delivery as the iconic singer fondly called The Voice.
It was praised by the African-American community and media but derided by mainstream US media for basically focusing on the romance between the late pop star and her ex-husband, Bobby Brown.
The movie's issues predates its release. Houston's family members objects to it. Failing in their bid to stop its product and eventual release, they all shunned its premiere.
Regardless, the Angela Bassett-produced movie throws up illuminating insights about the couple. At a juncture in an interview segment, Brown revealed both he and Houston cheated on each other while their union lasted. This proved to be the movie's undoing as viewers found Brown's salacious details of their love life distasteful and highly offensive.
That's why it's worth watching still...
