Boko Haram strikes, kills 80-year-old, others in Borno
BOKO Haram insurgents have attacked Kirkasama, a remote community in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State, killing an 80 year-old man and a nine year-old boy, two vigilante sources have said.
The insurgents, according to the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, attacked Kirkasama, and “raided the community on Saturday night, killed two people while four were injured,” one of the sources said, a claim corroborated by his colleague, who said they got wind of the attack in Damboa town.
It was gathered that the attack was carried out in less than 30 minutes even as many of the residents reportedly fled the area in fear. Also, the insurgents were said to have fled into the bush before the arrival of some military troops with vigilante in tow.
Borno State Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Opadokun, confirmed the attack to Daily Sun yesterday, saying: “Reports received from a member of Civilian JTF in Damboa Local Government Area indicates on October 10 about 1900 hours, that unknown gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram invaded Kirkasama village about two kilometres from Damboa town, attacked and shot dead two people.”
The CP disclosed that a man, 80, and a nine year-old-boy were among the dead. He said the insurgents arrived as the duo “were eating together at the entrance of their house.”
He, however, said three people, who sustained injuries “are now on admission for treatment at General Hospital, Biu.
