Rumours of a mega-money move to Old Trafford for Neymar persist with reports in England highlighting the extravagant wages the Red Devils would have to cough up to secure the Brazilian's services.
Neymar’s father confirmed that United made an approach for his son last summer, but a €190m move - the buyout clause in his contract - never came to fruition.
The striker's future has been in doubt as he has yet to commit his future to the club and according to The Sun, United will have to at least match the proposed £500,000-a-week (€698,000) that he Catalans are expected to offer the 23-year-old.
Such a deal would double his current deal and place him behind only Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo among the biggest earners in football.
It has been widely speculated that Barcelona will open negotiations before Christmas to fend off any interest in the Brazilian striker.
Neymar joined Barcelona from Santos in June 2013 and scored 29 goals and set up seven more to help Luis Enrique's side seal the Primera Division, Copa del Rey and Champions League treble last season.
