President Bola Tinubu on Sunday directed the military, police, and State Security Service to track down and apprehend the perpetrators of Niger state's Kasuwan Daji  market attack, where terrorists killed at least 30 villagers and abducted scores of women and children.

President Tinubu also directed security agencies to quickly rescue all kidnapped victims, that the terrorists “must face the full consequences of their criminal actions.”

In a statement signed by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu lsaid Saturday’s attack is tied to terrorists fleeing from the US airstrikes on them and their strongholds in Sokoto and Zamfara states on Christmas Eve.

Armed bandits varried out the attack in the market located in Demo community, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, on Saturday, January 3, 2026.
