Man sucks genitals of 9-year-old in Lagos

A 30-year-old unemployed man, Emeji Christopher, was, on Wednesday, charged before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly sucking the genitals of a child. Emeji, whose address is unknown, is facing a charge of indecent treatment of a child. He pleaded not guilty to the charge. But the prosecutor, Inspector Rita Momoh, said that the accused committed the offence some time in November 2014 at Jaja Hall toilet of the University of Lagos, Akoka. She said the accused tricked the nine-year-old into one of the toilets in the hall where he sucked his genitals. "The police have been on the lookout for the accused following a report by his parents. The accused was only apprehended recently after he was seen roaming the university aimlessly," the prosecutor said. Momoh noted that the offence contravened Section 135 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The Chief Magistrate, Mr P. A. Adeeyo, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to October 12 for substantive trial. Nigerian Tribune
