5 APC members defect (Nigerian Bulletin)

Five members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the House of Representatives from Ogun state have defected to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Their defection is contained in a letter addressed by the legislators to the Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal, and was read at plenary on Tuesday.

The five lawmakers are Tunde Ogundara, Adeyemi Adekunle, Olumide Osoba, Abiodun Balogun and Taofeek Braimoh.

In the letter, they explained that their defection was informed by the crisis in the Ogun chapter of the APC.
According to them, having considered the happenings in the Ogun APC, we were left with no option than to leave the party based on Section 68 (g) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.
