Towards the end of the year, the singer, rapper, actress and presenter laid off some workers working with her on the Queen Latifah Show. It was undoubtedly one of the hardest decisions she has ever made especially since logistics demands that she does this now, which, doubly painfully, coincides with the Christmas season.
Naturally, they must get their pink slips compensating them for having their jobs taken away from them. And the show, produced by Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, had none to give.
So, she decided to withdraw funds from her own personal bank account and pay her crew's bills through the holidays.
Latifah further displayed her gratitude on Facebook where she posted: "Your dedication and sacrifice was crucial to the entire team, and in the face of intense challenges, you displayed 'True Grit'!… Thank you for your strong work ethic and great effort in getting The Queen Latifah Show off the ground and running."
According toPerez Hilton, despite the show ending after a two season-run, the Grammy winner is confident there will be more opportunities for her and her staff in the future: "We truly changed people's lives for the better. So…stay positive, stay strong, and most important, stay open…There is so much more God has in store!"
There should be a Grammy award category specially given to her. What a heart.
