By the Sea, starring Angelina Jolie and husband Brad Pitt set for debut (GuardianUK)

By the Sea stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt as a married couple going through a crisis.

While Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken was a solid box office hit ($161m worldwide), it didn’t attract the awards attention that many assumed it would. Its three Oscar nominations were all technical nods, and most critics labelled it a disappointment.

“This is a story about a relationship derailed by loss, the tenacity of love, and the path to recovery and acceptance,” said Jolie. “It has been a privilege to explore these universal human experiences with such a generous and talented cast and crew.”
After working with Richard Deakins on Unbroken, Jolie has again paired herself with another acclaimed cinematographer. This time she’s recruited Christian Berger, best known for working with Michael Haneke on The White Ribbon and The Piano Teacher.
Universal will release the film on 19 November in the US. It’s a month that also includes Oscar hopefuls The Danish Girl, starring this year’s best actor winner Eddie Redmayne, and Sundance hit Brooklyn, a drama with Saoirse Ronan.
Jolie has been rumoured to follow By the Sea with Captain Marvel, a female-fronted superhero film that will exist within the Marvel Cinematic Universe
