How foreign powers aid poll rigging in Nigeria - university don ((The Punch)

A professor of Communication Arts, University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Desmond Wilson, has attributed the increased cases of election rigging in Nigeria to secret support of foreign powers and devious neighbours.
He said the seeds of instability are sown in the electoral process as weakened ruler had to bribe his way through his administration with a view to keeping rival forces in check.
The professor of communication arts said this in Uyo during the 44th inaugural lecture of the university with the theme, “Ethnocommunicology, Trado-Modern Communication and Mediamorphosis in Nigeria: An Iconoclasts Demystification of some Communication Traditions,” on Thursday evening.
“The election rigger who has himself been manipulated to believe that he is the messiah is often buoyed by the dubious and secret support of foreign powers and devious neighbours.
“Even the leader who openly admits that he was rigged into office never has the courage to order a fresh voting.”
According to Wilson, Nigeria’s rulers also receive pay-offs from multinational corporations so that they could introduce negative policies against the people while pretending that such policies were their well-thought out ideas.
