Lille of France shot-stopper and Super Eagles’ Captain, Vincent Enyeama was on Saturday crowned as Nigeria’s king of football for the year, 2014, at the second edition of the Nigeria’s Pitch Awards.
Enyeama who won the crown at last year’s maiden edition of the awards also clinched the Best Goalkeeper Award for the year under review.
The awards ceremony held in Kaduna on Saturday, shortly after the Super Eagles’ 2-0 defeat of Chad Republic in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match, saw Super Falcons’ striker, Asisat Oshoala, claiming the nation’s queen of the pitch award.
Kenneth Omeruo and Ogenyi Onazi emerged Best Defender and Best Midfielder respectively whille Ahmed Musa beat Ike Uche and Mfon Udoh to the Striker of the Year Award.
Kano Pillars again won the Club of the Year with the team’s technical adviser, Okey Emordi, claiming the Coach of the Year, while Ferdinand Udoh won the Best Referee Award. Chairman of Enyimba Internatioal FC, Chief Felix Anyansi-Agwu emerged as the Manager of the Year and John Shittu, the Players’ Agent of the Year.
In other categories, Senator Liyel Imoke, former Governor of Cross River State picked up the Football Friendly Governor for 2014 and Lagos State, for the second time running, won the State with the Best Graasroots Football Development Programme.
In the media category, Tana Aiyejina of Punch emerge as the Football Journalist of the Year in the Print Category while Toyin Ibitoye of Channels TV and Bimbo Adeola of Star FM won the TV and Radio categories respectively.
The Awards Ceremony, which was for the 2014 season drew eminent personalities in the Nigerian football community, prominent among them. the NFF President, Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick, NFF 2nd Vice President, Mallam Shehu Dikko and other executive board members of the NFF.
