"This Change must not be aborted"- Tinubu at First Lady's appreciation dinner

Tinubu
Yesterday night, Abuja witnessed a momentous occasion. First Lady Aisha Buhari gave an appreciation dinner in honour of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The national leader of the All Progressives'Congress (APC) was unavoidably absent because he was in Paris condoling a close friend whose son abruptly passed away. "Incidentally that friend contributed a great deal to the victory we are celebrating here today," he said. Babafemi Ojudu, revered journalist and member of the National Assembly, gave a speech on his behalf. In the speech, Tinubu provided insights into the burning issues that Tinubu would like attention to be focused on as part of the nation's rebirth.

"Tonight is not a night of long speeches but of celebration. It is a night of joy moderated by a sober reflection. A reflection on the fact that many of our women who made this possible do not have the opportunity and will never have the opportunity to partake of this dinner,"Tinubu said.
He said while people are making merriment, they  must spare a thought for "That woman in the creek of Niger Delta who paddles her canoe night and day in search of her livelihood, the woman in Kotonkarfi who fries Kose or roast corn to provide for her children, that woman in the deep forest of Igbo land who rides her bicycle with her hoe on her shoulder to cultivate cassava to send her children to school, that woman in Ado Ekiti who toils hours in the market selling Gari to train her children, the Gwari woman who with her pot nestled on her shoulder walks kilometers daily in search of water, the mothers of our missing Chibok girls who continue to live with the agony of the loss of their daughters and the millions of ordinary Nigerian women who defied the elements and queued for hours to cast their votes for our great party."
Tinubu concluded this phenomenal change is about them,. "it is for them, for their children and their future. we must therefore do everything possible not to disappoint them. This change must not be aborted. You must defend it so that together we can say we have fulfilled our covenant with our people."
