Tributes as Remi Oyo, former MD, NAN, goes home (The Punch)

The remains of a former Managing Director, News Agency of Nigeria, Mrs. Oluremi Oyo, has been buried in Lagos on Friday.
At a funeral mass for Oyo, dignitaries, including the immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, his Osun State counterpart, Mr. Olagunsoye Oyinlola, family members and former colleagues, described the late media icon as a dedicated and hardworking professional who lived a life worthy of emulation.
Oyo, who was a Senior Special Assistant to former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Media and Publicity, died on October 1, 2014 at the age of 62 while she was undergoing treatment for a cancer-related ailment in the United Kingdom.
The mass was presided over by Bishop John Niyiring of Catholic Diocese of Kano, who described her as a woman who dedicated her life to the church and society.
He said, “Today is both a day of joy and sadness to this diocese. It is a sad day because our dear friend and sister, Mrs. Oluremi Oyo, is dead and is being buried, and a day of joy because we are celebrating the passing into eternity of a woman respected and recognised nationally and globally because of her hard work when she was alive.”
Among the personalities who attended the burial ceremony were a former Minister of Information, Mr. Frank Nweke, Jnr., former Chairman of Punch Nigeria Limited, Chief Ajibola Ogunshola, the incumbent Managing Director of NAN, Mr. Ima Niboro and President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, Mr. Femi Adesina.
