OBJ celebrates birthday with soccer match yesterday as APC graces lecture today

Yesterday, former President Olusegun Obasanjo exhibited soccer skills to celebrate his 78th birthday anniversary where as a fully-kitted captain, he scored twice as his team, Team Obasanjo defeated Gov. Amosun-led Executive Team, 2-1.

Today, several chieftains of the All Progressives Congress attended the birthday lecture of former President Olusegun Obasanjo held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

Officials and members of the Peoples Democratic Party stayed away.
Obasanjo, who recently turned 78, quit politics few weeks ago when he tore his PDP membership card and declared himself a non-partisan statesman henceforth.

At the lecture held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library were the National Chairman of the APC, John Oyegun, who arrived the venue in company with other notable chieftains of the fold including a national leader of the party, Bola Tinubu; a former governor of Ekiti state, Segun Oni (now the APC National Vice-Chairman South-West); a former Governor of Osun state, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, among others.

No official of the PDP was sighted at the venue. Obasanjo did not say whether they were invited.

Obasanjo, while reacting to the presence of APC chieftains at his event, said he initially thought the politicians missed their way, but that when he realised they came to rejoice with him and not on political campaign, he became comfortable.
He thanked them for coming, and thereafter requested Oyegun to address the gathering.
