PDP raises alleged destructive plans by APC

The presidential campaign organisation of the Peoples Democratic Party has raised the alarm that the opposition All Progressives Congress is planning to plunge the nation into crisis because defeat is steering it in the face.
Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP campaign, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, raised the alarm at a media briefing in Abuja, on Wednesday.
Fani-Kayode said the PDP had uncovered a plot by the APC to destabilise the country as soon as its candidate, Maj. Gen.Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) loses the presidential election on March 28.
According to Fani-Kayode, the APC has already set in motion its plan with the establishment of “APC Radio” or “Radio Chanji” which he said had been broadcasting falsehood, propaganda and inciting members of the public.
“The objective of the radio station is to serve as a propaganda tool to fight the government after they lose the election on March 28,” he said.
He named former governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, whom he said was the brain behind Radio Kudirat during the days of NADECO when the government of General Sani Abacha was being fought by a number of people in Nigeria, as the man behind the APC radio project.
Fani-Kayode said, “The opposition know that they would lose the election and after this happens it is their intention to begin to use this illegal radio station to incite Nigerians against the government.
“They seek to create mayhem and cause panic and create a toxic and bellicose atmosphere in which their supporters will be encouraged to slaughter and kill innocent Nigerians whilst the country burns.
“They also intend to use the radio station to incite the armed forces to mutiny. They intend to create a major division and utter chaos within the Nigerian state, using religion and ethnicity, and they will take that opportunity to either call for full blown military intervention or the establishment of an Interim National Government.
“It is through the auspices of this illegal radio station that they intend to announce members of their planned shadow and parallel government, to nominate their ministers and to then create major crisis in our country.”
Calls to Fayemi’s telephone number were neither picked nor returned as of the time of this report. A text message sent to him was also not replied as of the time of filing this report at 7:45pm.
However, the spokesman for the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said he would not dignify Fani-Kayode’s speculations with a response.
The PDP campaign also said that an APC insider exposed the opposition’s plots to the PDP out of patriotic zeal and commitment to Nigeria.
He alleged that as part of the plot, the APC was packaging a documentary in which it would try to tarnish the reputation of President Goodluck Jonathan and key members of his cabinet, labelling them as corrupt.
This documentary, he said, would be aired on the international media three days to the general elections.
He called on security agencies and the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission to do everything within their powers to stop the airing of the “calculated falsehood.”
“As we are addressing you, a scurrilous and utterly baseless documentary and video has been commissioned and compiled by them. It is titled “Nigerians…What Is Going on?’’ Fani-Kayode said.
