This follows a motion of urgent national importance raised on the subject by Hon. Ayokunle Isiaka, representing Ifo/Ewekoro federal constituency of Ogun state, whilst appealing to Nigerian youth to suspend planned protests against the situation. He raised the motion, while passionately appealing to the youth to exercise restraints because the Tinubu administration, aided by the lawmakers, are doing all in its power to ameliorate the situation.
Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ben Okezie Kalu, representing Bende federal constituency of Abia, commended Him. Ayokunle Isiaka for moving the motion, then suggested an amendment urging lawmakers to sacrifice half of their pay packets for six months as a sign of the lawmakers' empathy, sacrifice and identification with the sufferings of the Nigerian people that they represent.

This is coming on the heels of a strident push by a faceless group rallying Nigeria especially the youth, for a peaceful rally nationwide against the prevailing buying economic hardship. There are concerns however; thst the simmering tensions over the negative climate on the people's psyche can make it turn violent in no time and, criminal elements can hijack the protests for nefarious reasons.
As for Charles Oko, an artisan, he said,"Mek we no protest? I wan see the money reach me or touch me somehow before I go fit talk about that one "
Some other youth however, commend these, amidst further suggestions. "This is a commendable step in the right direction by our lawmakers, shows they're feeling our pulse and listening. Reactive, yes, but at last, they're responding tightly," Jasmine Nwachukwu, a student, said.
Adeaga Tolani, a young enuempkoyed graduate, said, "we love them for this step. More of such prople-faced measures," adding, "they should emplace measures to ensure we, the suffering masses and the most vulnerable benefit first in meaningful ways. Like it should be used to buy for us SME tools like pepper mills, microfinance POS, smartphones for content creation, etc. so the monies won't just end up in two or three pits of soup."
"But, well done to our lawmakers. Thank you," he said.
