 When you're dating a man, and at certain point, as you grow increasingly serious, you start to introduces him to the special people in your life like work colleagues, friends and family members. 

On meeting a particular friend of yours though...If you notice that after meeting a particular friend, your man starts complaining or criticising a particular friend for no discernible reason, all the time, beware.

If the friend has very bad personal characteristics, it won't be just your ma, but you yourself and everyone would know. But if he nitpicks about her constantly, it only means one thing.

Let me break it down for you, girlfriend, your man is attracted to that particular friend. Trust me. He is attracted to her at a very deep level. It could be lust or love, but no mistake, he is in his feelings for her. 

This makes him uncomfortable, because hey! This is his woman's friend! Taboo. Forbidden territory. Yet, his heart misses a bear or his third ,leg jerks uncontrollably on seeing her. So, he tries to demonise her in his mind to avoid wanting her, and to you, so you won't have her around him all the time while he burns silently. 

Or, he already gave the signal and the friend reciprocated and they are already fooling around behind your back. Later, guilt trips on seeing her or realising the friend us actually your bitter frenemy from their clandestine pillow talks make him want to ensure you distance yourself from her. To keep her from harming you. As a precautionary motion. 

Yet, he's unable to tell you the real reason why he hates your frenemy (that applies to him too, doesn't it?) so, he complains about her all the time. Till you stop bringing her around you two to avoid arguments.

Men usually care less about trivialities or nagging. Occasional complaints or two about a disliked friend and the reason would be obvious to all. That's it. But when he's stridently opposing your association with a friend for flimsiest of reasons or for no discernible factor, watch out! It's either if the scenario above.
