Biden's Withdrawal: Democrats On Fund-raising Roll After President Biden's Withdrawal From Race #USElection2024 (Foreign)
President Joe Biden
Democrats raised more than $46.7 million and still counting on what's now called " the biggest fundraising day of the 2024 presidential race" after incumbent President Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race and endorsing Kamala Harris, his female vice president for the slot.
This was a jolt to many observers. It's thought he could have dropped out of the race much earlier if he was disinclined. After passing the threshold of reasonable declining period from standing for election, many thought he would now go all the way. But now, days to the Democratic National Convention, he announced his withdrawal in a one-page letter. It was least expected.
Notwithstanding, the huge amount raised within hours of his step down indicates a show of support for the president's discontinuation from the race and his endorcement of Harris.
Biden has been self-isolating while recuperating from an illness in Nebraska, surrounding himself with just his closest sides and advisers and, family.
At the same time, there's been increasing almost strident calls from outside and within the party for Biden to drop out of the race. It reached fever pitch following his dismal outing, yet again, at a presidential debate, late June.
Reports monitored by Mega Mode Media notices that, the decision was ultimately, Biden's decision to make. Yesterday afternoon, he eventually released a letter saying, he "... took the decision in the interest of the party and the country".
Former president Donald TrumpWith Biden, definitely the Democrats will basically hand over victory to Donald Trump on a silver platter, weakening the party. So it has to be for the supreme, overriding interest of "the party". And "the country" comes into the equation because party officials from either party, Republican or Democrat, believe they are more butter than the other in effectively ruling the country.
Biden promised to address the nation fully within the week. Though Biden endorsed Harris instead, still, it's still not confirmed and it's for delegates to decide at the Convention.
Vice President Kamala Harris
Regarding this, Harris just announced that, "she intends to earn and win the nomination" to be the party's 2024 Presidential flag bearer following Biden's endorsement.
Now, with the Convention looming, the question on everyone's lips is, "Who becomes the Democratic Party's 2024 presidential candidate?"
