Housing Crisis: FG Says 70 Percent of Nigerians Now Have Rent-To-Own Homes, True or False? (Nigeria)

The strident reports of the acute housing crisis has got to the ears of the Federal Government. The revelations by members of the academia, revealing media reports and, the cry of affected Nigerians have all got to the ears of the Federal Government.

To cushion this problem, government has introduced plans to make house rents not only affordable to the average Nigerian, but also, turn them to house owners .

This is fine in two ways: The Rental Assistance Product which allows Nigerians to pay annual rent upfront, with flexible monthly repayment options. These are practical measures to reduce housing stress, especially for urban dwellers and young families.

Ahmed Dangiwa, minister of housing and urban development says that the government is also committed to the National Urban Renewal and Slum Upgrade Programme, which focuses on infrastructure development, housing rehabilitation, and service delivery in underserved communities.

The minister said currently, 70 percent of Nigerians have benefitted from this initiative.

Mega Mode Media wonders, where? Where are those 70 percent Nigerians who have moved or about to move into these FG- organized homes where they are making their repayments monthly to the FG?

Speak up now, or forever let this spin stand.

It is common to find big estate realtor organisations mopping these homes at point of purchase only to resell them at exorbitant prices to the people.

It is our considered positive at Mega Mode Media that the housing crisis in Nigeria has not enjoyed the privilege mentioned by the minister of housing and urban development, Ahmed Dangiwa.
