Why ADC Disowns Party Spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi Publicly (Politics)i
When a new opposition political party publicly comes out to warn the general public not to entertain any statement or press release by its spokesperson, it signals a deep crack in the party that defies papering over it.
The All Democratic Congress (ADC) is a fresh darling of political parties in MI seeking to list President Bola Tinubu from office in next year's presidential polls. Political bigwigs in the Senate, House of Reps, past speakers and Senate presidents including two former presidential candidates have joined the party.
So, it is a force to be reckoned with in political terrain in Nigeria.
But, cracks are emerging.
Suddenly, the party leadership said any continued unauthorised use of the party’s name and logo by Bolsji Abdullahi, former two-time minister and party spokesperson, would attract legal action.
In a statement by the party’s National Chairman, Nafi’u Bala Gombe, and Secretary, Board of Trustees (BoT) Rufus Ikanmi, the leadership said if Abdullahi wishes to become a member of the ADC, he should follow the appropriate procedure by registering at his political ward in Kwara State.
The party warned that any further financial transactions, including lending, withdrawals, or transfers from the party’s accounts by such unauthorised persons, would be deemed financial misconduct and economic sabotage.
The BoT and NWC further decreed that the party would take all necessary steps to protect its identity and interests, adding that it would not hesitate to pursue legal remedies if Abdullahi persists in the alleged actions.
This is heavy. Very heavy words there.
Had Abdullahi been withdrawing monies from the party's bank accounts without following due process?
Had there been internal uproar over the incident?
Did Abdullahi refuse to heed warning and continued doing so regardless?
It looks that way. For both national chairman and BoT Secretary to resort to jointly issue such a damning press release. And they did did by the doves without involving Abdullahi whose office should ordinarily have released the press statement.
And, does this by any extension, have anything to do with the ingot swirling all over now that ADC does not want to field presidential candidates asther, it is said to be seriously considering adopting President Bola Tinubu of another party, the ruling All Peoples' Congress (APC) as its Presidential candidate?
The timing of this announcement tallies with this picture by ADC's leadership. Is that the information Abdullahi has problems with disseminating as the spokesman leading to the release?
Because the statement lampoons Abdullahi as not a card carrying party member:That means he should not dictate what bina fide card carrying members do.
