Hear, hear!
Content creators, digital social media influencers, and everyone using digital platforms even, print journalists, this breakthrough news is for you.
Often, the purveyors of truth, whistleblowers, investigative journalists, are often dreaded and intensely disliked by the establishment. The powerful and not-so powerful are often involved in many misdeeds which they do not want the public to know, and perchance if it trickles out, they want to sweep under the carpet. But, for the "ecposers," of misdeeds who scatter their plans and beam the searchlight on their misconduct for world to see.
So, when a landmark ruling came from a Federal High Court just ruled that police men on duty can be filmed without asking for their permission, it is worth celebrating indeed.
Nigerian policemen do not wear body cameras. So when they know in this social media age, anything they do out there can be filmed by anyone and posted online causing risks to his/her job, they would commit less atrocities they are often accused of. Like extra judicial killings, ninety and extortion and so on.
And, even if they want to seek judicial redress for such social media posts fine without their consent while on duty, it will be a lost case from the start because, now, there's a ready to precedent which serves as sure defence now.
Isn't this just beautiful all around?
