State visits are official visits done by the leader of a nation to another leader of another country by mutual consent. Such are not at parliamentarian, ambassadorial or ministerial levels, it is head of state/government to head of state/government. The  two leaders  must interface.

It is the highest level in diplomatic engagements and stresses the importance of bilateral relationship between the two countries whose leadership are meeting in a state visit.

Cultural, economic, military alliances, developmental issues and other necessary issues are often discussed and agreements made on these

Watch out for fresh policy directives especially security which has been severely threatened by activities of kidnappers and terr0r1sts for more than a decade. It got so grave that the United States had to militarily intervene by striking the hideouts and bases of these terrorists in December and January.

Economic and business opportunities will also be highlighted during the trip. NIigeris needs foreign direct investments (FDI) which only a president can most effectively advertise to eminent business men that will form part of king Charles III during the course of the State Visit.

So after this visit in nearly 40 years between Nigeria and its colonial master.m, expect some policy directives.

President Tinubu accompanied by the first lady, Oluremi, and some members of government are on the state visit to King Charles III at Windsor Castle in UK from today, March 17 to tomorrow, March 18.

Buckingham Palace is often the venue of such meeting but this visit is at Windsor Castle. It could be that the host is considered avoiding Nigerian hecklers and protesters to disrupt the activities lined for the visit if it's done in London. Nigerian immigrants in London represent one of the largest in London and many of them comprise members of the UK  chapters of the  opposition party back home. They might seize the opportunity to embarrass him.

Windsor Castle offers the solitude and quietness to conduct state affairs between the two leaders undisturbed.

In any case, no country can thrive greatly in isolation. Nigeria wins here. It is the country that will gain better diplomatic standing in the comity of nations with this visit and reaffirmation of ties with UK, and the betterment of the country through getting better trade opportunities to lessen u employment, possible arms deals to tackle insecurity and better treatments of our nationals during busa consular visits and while traveling abroad,

So, here's to greater ties between UK and US.
