Abeeb Adelaja, a Nigerian comedian and online streamer has climbed the proverbial tree beyond the branches.

Peller, on a "nationwide tour" (of laughs or content?), has comically and nonchalantly streamed his way into serious trouble that he needs serious action to redress. And fast

On Friday March 6, Pellet paid a courtesy visit to the traditional palace of Oba of Benin. He, with his entourage, met with some palace chiefs and one of the Oba's six Queens. Peller had a jolly good time laughing, joking, interacting and taking pictures at the palace. Then, left.

Na so kasala burst.

On hearing of this, the Benin Traditional Council is livid. How can one small boy enter the precincts of a "sacred traditional institution' like the Oba's palace and "desecrate" and "breach the peace" with "frivolous content creation" "without permission" when the palace is not a "thoroughfare"?

No be small thing o. A staff member of the Benin Traditional Council, identified as Mr Omuemu, has been arrested and detained by the Nigeria Police Force

He has also been charged in court for causing a breach of the peace and abetting the unauthorised entry.

Not done, the Council is also holding deliberations over whether it should send the royal Queen who graced the occasion, out of the palace.

Strict disciplinary actions has also been imposed on palace staff and chiefs involved in the act. A chief found guilty has been placed on indefinite suspension from the palace. Indefinite suspension!

Peller is no longer in Benin, but he is not escaping the repercussion. The Council has demanded that the streamer cast away his trademark comedic grinning up and down like a gambler who just won millions at Baba Ijebu lotto and come cap in hand, with letter of apology, to the palace soonest or else he would face the full wrath of the Benin palace.

Wrath! Wrath ke? Please confirm, did I just hear "wrath of the palace"?

Peller! Peller!! Abibuu!!! How many times did I call you? Better fast personal Ramadan, this is original "trouble sleep yanga go wake am".

Were you not supposed to be fasting or aren't you a Muslim that should observe Ramadan instead of that waka waka you did that day? Missing Friday jumat o.

You should have asked for wisdom before venturing near the palace. The Benin Kingdome holds fast and firm to their cultural customs, heritage and traditions.

Oba Ewuare, the reigning king, once publicly cvrsed the masterminds of pr0st1tut10n and hvm@n tr@ff1ck1ng rings operating from the ancient city to other parts of the world. He declared they would all rvn m@d within seven days.

Truly, Benin city awake each day to sights of people running m@d on the roads with concerned friends and family hot on their heels to catch them. Before they enter market. Many of them were later brought to the palace for remedy of the situation.

Who are your advisers Peller? Abi that entourage ought to have a stern face fellow with uncommon sense directing you and your perennial goofy lot. Or, you should know what the daughter of the President experienced when she darednto  saunter into the palace of the Oba to greet him uninvited, just like that. And, how the Iyaloja of Benin markets was stripped from her for being an alien concept to Benin kingdom.

Going to that palace is an elephant's skull that the young cannot  carry. If the older ones cannot carry that head of elephant, is it Peller that will?

Lovers of peller, you had better tell your favourite to better scurry over there and do what the Council asks.

Those people aren't smiling. At all.

FULL TEXT OF PRESS RELEASE :

The Benin Traditional Council wishes to address the public regarding a serious breach of protocol and desecration of the sacred precincts of the Palace, which occurred on Friday, March 6, 2026.

“The council confirms that an individual, Habeeb Hamzat Adelaja, a social media influencer popularly known as “Peller,” gained unauthorised access to the palace premises on the said date.

“Mr Adelaja and his entourage entered the palace without the requisite permission from the council, and their subsequent conduct caused significant embarrassment and a breach of the peace within the palace grounds.

The Benin Traditional Council views this incident with the utmost gravity. The palace is not a public thoroughfare or a location for frivolous content creation; it is the ancient and spiritual seat of the Oba of Benin, governed by centuries of tradition, custom, and sacred protocols.”Irabor said the council had carried out a preliminary investigation into how the unauthorised access occurred.

“The council is therefore using this public medium to demand that Mr Adelaja presents himself immediately to the relevant authorities within the council. His unapproved visit has caused untold distress to many people, and as such, he must tender an unreserved written apology to the palace for his unauthorised access and the embarrassment caused.

“Failure to comply with this directive will leave the council with no option but to pursue legal action. The appropriate law enforcement agencies have been duly informed of this matter and are standing by to take necessary action against him.

“The Benin Traditional Council assures the public and the entire Benin nation that it remains the unwavering custodian of our age-old customs and traditions. While unscrupulous elements may occasionally attempt to undermine our sacred institutions, banking on the fatherly and forgiving disposition of His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, they do so at their peril.
